I took this source photo from the Blue Ridge Parkway during our State Park Adventures and just painted it last month as part of a color mixing lesson for my Leap of Art students.

Western North Carolina is one of our favorite places on Earth. Our hearts ache for the folks who have lost so much in hurricane Helene. It's hard to wrap our heads around the disastrous flooding that's gutted Asheville and erased Chimney Rock and the surrounding areas. I think of the people who lost their loved ones--mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, grandparents, lifelong friends. I think of the business owners who built their lives around creating joy and memories for travelers in our state. Their beloved shops and homes are just gone- overnight. I'm so proud of Greensboro and the first responders who have stepped up to go help in person. Thank you.

We've been thinking about how to help too. Second Harvest Food Bank and the American Red Cross are the organizations we've personally chosen to support. I also just finished up this little painting in Leap of Art and I'd like to offer it for sale with all the proceeds immediately going to either the American Red Cross or Second Harvest Food Bank to help victims of Helene. If you'd like to help, just purchase it and let me know which organization you'd like me to send the proceeds to. I'll send the complete sale price as a donation in your name ASAP. Western North Carolina is an inspiration to so many- with it's natural beauty in both heart and landscape.
