A Guide to Fine Art Giclée Prints: Choosing the Perfect Fit for your Home
Have you ever fallen in love with a painting, only to realize you’d love it just as much in a different size or perhaps a different price point?
That’s the beauty of fine art giclée prints. They let you collect artwork you love in a way that perfectly fits your walls, your style, and your budget—without sacrificing an ounce of quality.
In this post, I’ll walk you through the three types of prints I offer—stretched canvas prints, unstretched prints with a white border, and framed canvas prints—so you can find the perfect option for your space.
What Is a Giclée Print?
Let’s start with the basics.
A giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) is a high-quality fine art print made with archival inks and professional-grade paper or canvas. These prints are created using a special process that captures the rich color, brushwork, and texture of the original painting with incredible accuracy.
In other words—you get a piece that looks beautifully painterly, vibrant, and true to the original, but in a form that’s more flexible and accessible.
Each giclée print in my collection is produced by a professional fine art printer using museum-quality materials designed to last for generations. Whether on paper or canvas, you’ll notice the same soft brush textures, glowing color, and light that make my original paintings so special.
Stretched Canvas Prints (with Mirrored Edges)
If you want your print to arrive ready to hang—this is the perfect option.
My stretched canvas prints are printed on heavyweight, archival-grade canvas, then hand-stretched over sturdy wooden bars. The edges are mirrored—which means the image continues seamlessly around the sides, creating a beautiful finished look without cropping any of the artwork.
They have a soft, painterly presence—no glass needed, no framing required. Just hang it up and enjoy that instant gallery feel.
This is a wonderful choice if you want a ready-to-hang piece that looks elegant, contemporary, and clean. It’s also great for larger sizes or statement walls where you really want that art to breathe.
Framed Canvas Prints
If you’re looking for something with an extra touch of polish, my framed canvas prints are the way to go.
These start out just like the stretched canvas versions, but they’re placed inside a simple float frame—a sleek, minimal frame that creates a subtle shadow gap around the artwork. It’s a beautiful way to elevate your piece while keeping the focus on the art itself.
You can also choose your frame color. I currently offer gold, black, natural wood and white frame options.
Float frames are especially lovely if you want your art to feel like a finished centerpiece—perfect for living rooms, dining areas, or anywhere you want a touch of sophistication.
(And yes—they also come ready to hang, so all you have to do is find the perfect spot.)
Unstretched Prints
If you love flexibility—or plan to frame your print yourself—this option is for you.
My unstretched giclée prints are printed on fine art paper or canvas and shipped rolled with a clean white border around the image. The border makes it easy to handle, mat, or frame* however you like.
This option is ideal if:
You already have a frame you love
You want to experiment with a different presentation style
You’d like to take it to your local framer to mount*
*Unstretched prints may not be the best option for you if you want a float frame or a stretched canvas to frame. A local framer can stretch an unstretched print, but they might need to crop some of the image to do this. If you don’t want any of the image cropped, I recommend going with a stretched canvas print that comes with mirrored sides. This will also preserve the artist signature.
Unstretched prints do make wonderful gifts—lightweight, easy to ship, and ready for someone to personalize in their own way.
Choosing What’s Right for You
Here’s a little guidance I often give collectors:
If you want something simple and ready to hang, go with a stretched canvas print.
If you want a beautifully finished, gallery-style piece, choose the framed canvas print.
If you want flexibility or plan to frame it yourself, the unstretched print is a perfect choice.
No matter which option you choose, you’ll receive a fine art reproduction made with care—vibrant, archival, and true to the original painting.
Bringing Art Into Your Everyday Life
One of my favorite things about offering prints is knowing that these pieces find their way into homes all over the country—adding color, meaning, connection, and beauty. Over the years, I’ve realized that my work is simply, “love made visible.”
Whether you choose a glowing landscape on stretched canvas, a float-framed piece that makes your wall shine, or a rolled print to frame yourself, I hope your artwork brings you that same joy every time you see it.
Because art isn’t just something to look at—it’s something to live with. Enjoy the gallery above showing gorgeous prints and originals from my real-life collectors! Can you tell which ones are prints? It’s a lot harder than you might think!
